The market's best week belonged to a coin exchanges are removing

The first week of September 2026 was strong across the board: bitcoin touched a three-month high above $82,200, total crypto capitalisation peaked near $2.82 trillion, and US spot bitcoin ETFs took in almost $2 billion — their best week of the year. Monero, BNB and Cardano each added around 7%.

Zcash beat all of them. Roughly 40% in a week, past $1,200 for the first time in a decade, ninth by market cap — the same asset Coinbase removed in April, and one of the assets Europe's AMLR will make unlistable at regulated venues from July 2027.

Read the two facts together and the story is not "privacy coins are pumping". It is that the demand and the distribution have come apart. Regulated venues are exiting the asset while the price says buyers are arriving somewhere else — decentralised routes, over-the-counter desks, and swaps that never touch a compliance department.

What this means in practice: a rising price on a shrinking set of venues is not the same as an easy position. Before it matters, know how you would sell: on which venue, at what depth, and what it will ask you for.
